An Oxford Graduation

Julianne and Lauren at St. Cross

We have attended many graduations in our day, from kindergarten to junior high, from junior high to high school, from high school to college and from college to post-graduate ceremonies, but of all that we have attended, Oxford was truly unique. Having remained unchanged for 800 years, we witnessed (in Latin) how all who have attended Oxford have graduated.

As Elliott posted here, it was not filled with lengthy speeches or common celebration, but in solemnity and tradition. The graduates swore their oath (do fidem) to the University with a reverent bow and return doffing of the cap. Congratulations to Julianne for achieving what few achieve.

Utah - An Amazing Place of Uncommon Beauty!

We have been attending a Monday Family Home Evening for old folks in our ward, many of whom hail from parts unknown to common man in Southern Utah. A simple illustration is evident in this you tube clip (this is a very enlightening video). We decided that on our next run to Southern California that we would tour Southern Utah. We have been to some beautiful places in Utah, in fact we live in one. But, the sites we visited on this last journey were no exception - Utah is a place of uncommon beauty!

Oh, and by the way, on our path of simplification, we have closed escrow on our California home. We are now down to only 2 real estate properties - yay!!! We now find oursevles in England for Julianne's Degree Day at Oxford.

Some sites from Southern Utah and Highway 12, ranked among one of the great drives in the US.

Julianne

Julianne will not boast, so we will. We are grateful for her humility and sincere desires, and for her beauty both inside and out. So it is that we share this moment with her as a family. Congratulations for your accomplishments with Distinction at Oxford and for having top marks at Oxford for your Dissertation.
